- AMCARE supplies bread and soup to the HIV & AIDS and TB patients of 5 Ekurhuleni clinics twice a week, using more than 700 loaves of bread a week.
- 240 children at 2 High Schools in Phola Park receive soup and bread three times a week
- HIV-infected and affected patients receive food parcels every fortnight
300 orphans and vulnerable children receive food parcels
- Poor and vulnerable people receive food parcels as needed
All recipients of food parcels are interviewed by AMCARE social workers to assess their need.
The food is supplied through the donations of various schools and organizations and through the produce of three large vegetable gardens on AMCARE’s premises (Gardening Programme).
In addition, AMCARE spends approx R20,000 per month on food supplies - R9.000 on bread alone.
AMCARE also renders this service on behalf of Alberton Methodist Church and other NPOs. |
